Featured Products - July 20197/15/2019 Hello everyone. As we continue to ramp things up at ES&S, our newsletters will continue to grow as well, with added content and specials. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions, and to inquire about special offers that are available to everyone receiving our newsletter, but not necessarily advertised. Here we go. Stillpoints Aperture Acoustic Panels![]() Starting this business has been a fun challenge, and a labor of love for sure. Probably the biggest joy is having the opportunity to personally audition some of the great products we represent, and also have the opportunity to do "in house" demos for end users. One of the 4 areas, of "The Four Corners" approach to system optimization is Acoustic Treatments. I have always been a fan of the Stillpoint isolation products, footers, racks, etc, and Stillpoints also makes a very effective room treatment product in the their Aperture II panels. I have found these to be one of, if not the most comprehensive room treatment on the market. From a versatility standpoint, they are hard to beat. Working as an absorber, a diffuser, and a resonator, these 22"x22"X3" panels are problem solvers, for an acoustically unfriendly room, and optimizers for an acoustically accurate room. To illustrate how powerful these are, I recently used a total of 6 of these, in a cavernous (31' (W) X 42' (D) X 15'-18' (H) ceiling) home theater room, here in northern Utah. The room previously had a variety of very obtrusive treatments, that addressed some things, but tended to deaden things as well. Using the Aperture II's, on their own, there were huge improvements in sound staging, image focus, and just an overall tonal balance. And, they look nice as well, and are available with varying choices of wood frames, and fabrics. Price: $800/panel Introductory Special: We are offering these with a full 60 day money back guarantee, plus free shipping. Here's some info directly from Stillpoints' website: "The Stillpoints Aperture acoustic panels represent a whole new form of acoustical treatment. The Stillpoints Aperture is actually three products in one: an absorber, a diffuser, and a resonator. Due to its revolutionary design, it is impossible to directly compare the performance parameters of the Stillpoints Aperture to a conventional acoustic panel made of fiberglass. The performance specifications of the Stillpoints Aperture continually adapt to the dynamic changes in amplitude and frequency of the audio/video system generating the wave forms within the acoustical environment. At any given amplitude and frequency a “snapshot” measurement of performance could be taken, but, that static measurement does not explain the reality of how the Stillpoints Aperture actually performs." And check out this review from Michael Fremer of Analog Corner: "In “Strangers,” written and sung by Dave Davies, along with a 3D image of his voice connected to a head was the sensation of being able to hear the walls of the vocal booth behind him, and his words were easier to follow in this somewhat reverb-drenched mix. The illusion of my room’s sidewall boundaries disappearing became even more convincing, with no price paid in terms of “dead room” overdamping." Full review download below. ![]()
Contact us today to audition the amazing Aperture Stillpoints Acoustic Panels. The new Ayre 8 series products![]() We are proud to be a dealer of Ayre Acoustics. They make fantastic sounding, musically pure gear, are a first rate company, and have top notch customer service and support. At last year's RMAF in Denver, I got a chance to check out their new "8 Series" QX-8 digital hub, and EX-8 Integrated amplifier, and the sound was stellar. Another appeal is the "forward compatibility" of both units. QX-8 digital base (S/PDIF inputs only) $4,950.00
EX-8 analog (analog inputs only) $5,950.00
See review: https://darko.audio/2019/04/ayre-acoustics-qx-8-digital-hub-review/ And here's a snippet from that review: "My initial sonic impressions included descriptive terms as big, bold, and detailed with an excellent transient response. The QX-8 delivers the characteristic “Ayre Acoustics Sound”: extremely neutral, dynamic with very well controlled bass and an overall lack of hardness. If you are looking for warmth or midbass fullness, you might be disappointed by the QX-8. What the QX-8 delivers is absolute tonal accuracy in its overall presentation." Also, you can read more detail directly from the Ayre website. Special introductory pricing. Please call for details. Shunyata Research - Denali 6000s V2Just this last week, we got in the new Shunyata Research Denali 6000s V2, along with their top line Sigma NR power cord. Though not even broken in, there are very obvious improvements over the previous V1, which is a great performer in its own right. What was clear to me was: better separation, layering and a noticeably lower noise floor. Again, only about half way burned in, so I'm excited to hear, and see, how things improve. Yes, the Denali is great at improving top end video setups as well. You can read more specs on the Shunyata Research website. Here's some of their description: "The Denali 6000/S Version 2 adds measurably improved performance and technology to a design that has won multiple Product of the Year Awards and raves from every critic covering them. Design advances within Denali v2 include objectively lowered noise, double the outlet zone-isolation and superior high-current performance for amps and other high-current electronics on all outlets. Denali 6000/S improvements derive from advances in technology that have made Clear Image Scientific®, Shunyata Research’s sister company, a household-name in the medical imaging and scientific communities. Taken together, these design upgrades elevate the Denali 6000/S v2 from an award-winning reference to a complete, state-of-the-art product for recording and home entertainment systems. The Denali 6000/S is designed to provide the finest performance available, at a price-point intended to embarrass the competition." As an introductory special, please inquire about special pricing, and/or trade in deals. Nordost - new line for 2019![]() At ESS we are very happy to represent the Nordost brand of products. Obviously known for their innovative, high performance cables, they also have a great array of other products. Their QRT power products have been well received, and perform really great. ![]() A very popular demo at the recent HIFI Deluxe show in Munich Germany was their new Powerpoint. From the Nordost site: "The QPOINT Resonance Synchronizer emits a subtle field which manipulates all electromechanical resonances within its immediate proximity so that they resonate in unison with each other. By syncing these resonances, the QPOINT eliminates internal electrical noise, enhancing the coherency and timing that is typically lacking in even the most high-end audio systems." We have a demo en route, and will have it available for audition. Their Qkore grounding set ups, are beneficial for any level of system resulting in an obviously lower noise floor, improved tonal balance and a more three dimensional presentation. Available for demo, so please contact us to arrange a personal audition. And that's a wrap for July's Featured Products! If you have questions about Aperture/Stillpoints acoustic panels, Ayre 8 Series Digital products, Shunyata Research's new Denali 6000s V2, or any of the fine Nordost products, please feel free to contact us with questions or to arrange an audition for your own listening room.
My best, Paul
